An old tree stump has been pre-drilled so that they can develop their ideas by sticking small branches in it and then adding things. For the base area, which picks up the triangular shape found in the nearby pylon, they have used some sand found on the site. The finished work is quite an impressive sight. It is a temporary sculpture which will last only a few days. The beautiful colours of nature are used in this finished representation of an electrical insulator to emphasise light and power.
Children working on ideas and themes in groups. Discussion among the children is encouraged and at the end of each session the artist and staff ask the children to comment on each others work, their interpretation and use of materials.
Finishing another "organic" electrical insulator.
Another group of children work on brightly coloured triangles with a variety of natural materials. They have been looking at shapes and lines seen in the pylon above them.
