Wood Vibrations Project - The Scultpture Made from painted goat willow (salix
caprea), the sculpture for the project has the appearance
of a painted copse of woodland. It does not resemble a musical instrument at all, and
this is its secret until the pieces are lifted off their bases
to be used in the concert. It has a primeval feel about it, and has
some influence from Aboriginal art and the colourful mark-making
of Joan Miro. Each piece is "owned" by a student
and the colours identify points of resonance. After a performance
the instruments return to being a sculpture again and will be
exhibited in Outfitters Art Gallery in Margate, Kent.
